Tai Chi Chuan (also taijiquan), translated as Supreme Ultimate Fist, is a Chinese
martial art that combines self defense with physical and mental fitness.Tai Chi Chuan
is excellent for health and balance while preserving its martial aspects which are
learned through practice of the empty hand forms, weapon forms, push hands, fighting
forms and free-form sparring.
This slow, fluid form of exercise is excellent for stress reduction & high blood pressure. Incorporating movement with proper breathing & meditation, this internal form of martial art, helps to build & direct Chi (internal energy). Tai Chi can be learned as a form of exercise for health or as a form of self-defense.It is practiced today primarily for its health benefits, stress relief, and relaxation, although interest in the martial application of the art is growing. |
